News Release
Summer Food Service Program 2021
Stressing the importance of offering nutritious meals to children during the summer months, Sharon Community School will be serving free breakfast and lunch to children 18 years of age and under regardless of residency.
The summer program will run from June 7 until August 23. Breakfast and Lunch is available daily M-F from 11:30-12:30 for pickup between June 14th to June 18th and July 12th to July 23rd during summer school weeks. For all other weeks between June 7 and August 23 there will be a Monday one time pickup of breakfast/lunch meals for a one week time period. The drive through pickup window is 11:30-12:30.
Meals are provided to eligible children regardless of race, color, national origin, age, gender or disability and there will be no discrimination in the course of meal service.
The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), which is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and is administered by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, provides nutritious meals to children during the summer, when free and reduced-price school meals are typically unavailable. Persons over 18 years of age who are determined by a state or local public educational agency to be mentally or physically disabled and who also participate in a public or private non-profit school program during the regular school year may receive free meals as well.
This program fills a void created when school lunches are not available. Helping parents meet the nutritional needs of their children is the strength of this program.
To file a complaint of discrimination, write USDA, Director, Office of Civil Rights (Office of Adjudication), 1400 Independence Avenue, SW, Washington, D.C. 20250-9410 or call toll free (866) 632-9992 (Voice). TDD users can contact USDA through local relay or the Federal Relay at (800) 877-8339 (TDD) or (866) 377-8642 (relay voice users). USDA is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
Please call the school office at 262-736-4477 if you have questions or need more information.
Don't forget! We are hosting another vaccine clinic on June 9th from 4-6pm in the school gym! Those who received their first shot should return for their second dose, unless they received the J&J vaccine. Anyone wishing to get the 1st dose is also welcome! This is a walk-in vaccine clinic! Minors must have a guardian present.
